Hudson River Sunset

I can keep an eye on the approaching sunset from my kitchen windows and if it looks promising, I can walk a couple of blocks down to the boat launch and grab some shots. Last evening it was looking kind of marginal but it had been a while so I decided to head down.

I carried the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens on one of my EOS RP bodies. I wished I had also brought down the 17-40mm lens as I could have used a focal length wider than 24mm at times. But, the 17-40mm lens is not stabilized and thus not my first choice for handheld bracketing of five shots per image.

The other pain these days is that my HDR software can not apply lens corrections yet with Canon's new(ish) .CR3 file format so I have to convert the files to .TIFF format first and then process them. This is necessary with wider focal lengths to correct for peripheral shading which the HDR process exaggerates.

It was about two hours after returning back at the house before I was done fully processing eleven finished images. I discarded two and uploaded nine to the dedicated gallery at https://trulandphotography.com/hudsonriversunsets. Here are some of the results.
