End of the Late Summer Gear Migration

Ever since the trip to Burlington I've been involved in refining my photography gear, both selling and buying. Out went two camera bodies and five lenses. In came one camera body and three lenses. The balance sheet is almost even with a slight advantage to the plus side.

The system is simplified in some respects, fewer lens options and only one sensor size. But it is more complex in another respect, two different lens mounts. The EOS R will be able to use the RF lenses natively and the EF lenses with the adapter. RF lenses can not be used on the 5DS R.

The Think Tank Airport Essentials will now hold everything except flashes, which I rarely use. Here is a photo of how it is arranged:

I was out yesterday with the EOS R and two of the new lenses, the RF 24-105mm and RF 85mm. I rented the newest version of the EF 24-105mm lens back in early August with a view toward purchasing it but the images were very soft on the edges. This RF lens is very good and RF lenses have more effective image stabilization than their EF counterparts.
