Five Days After the First Battle

245 years ago today, the British were fortifying the Freeman farm area where the fighting on September 19th took place. The Continental forces had withdrawn after that day's fighting and to insure a positive spin on the day's events, the British remained on, and fortified, the field of battle.

I arrived at the Saratoga Battlefield a little later than usual this morning so the tour road was already open. I had decided ahead of time that I wanted to walk around the Barber wheatfield, where the fighting on October 7th began. I also walked a bit along the tour road near the site of Burgoyne's headquarters due to some colorful fall ferns. My longest sojourn was down to the lower level from the great redoubt, up along the old Champlain Canal and back.

I carried the EOS R with the RF 24-105mm lens and the 5DSR with the EF 70-300mm lens. Here are some of the results.
