A Small, Inexpensive Ultra Wide Prime Lens

I sold my 35mm and 85mm RF STM lenses back in May when I decided to experiment with Minolta vintage lenses. Unanticipated back in May was that the Minolta experiment would lead to a much more expansive change when I sold one of my EOS R bodies and two RF L zoom lenses to pick up an EOS R6 body and the EF 50mm f/1.2L lens. That change took place during June and since then I've solely used the R6 and 50mm f/1.2 lens.

I'm in the process of trading my second EOS R body and last remaining RF L zoom lens, the 14-35mm f/4L for an EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM lens and cash.

So, facing the absence of a focal length wider than 24mm, I took advantage of a 20% discount on the already inexpensive Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM lens and have another week left in the return window to decide whether it will be useful or not. Another brand new similar lens which will shortly be available is the RF 28mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens. [Update 7/9: I've decided to return the 16mm lens.]

Here are some shots with the 16mm STM lens with corrections for distortion and vignetting in DxO PhotoLab 6 and straightening in Apple's Photos app..
