A Plan Comes Together

I've been using the Minolta lenses for a bit now and I really like them even though there are Minolta lenses out there that are rarer and better than the ones I have. But I have used the 35mm, 50mm and 58mm lenses I own enough to know they are a legitimate option for what I want to do. I also have a 100mm f/2.5 lens and extension tubes on the way which are of the same era as the 35mm and 58mm I recently acquired.

The plan I have is to use the Minolta lenses with a Canon EOS R6 which has sensor shift image stabilization. I will trade in one of my EOS R bodies and the RF 24-105mm and 70-200mm lenses to fund the purchase of the R6 plus about $500 extra for vintage lens purchases.

This will leave one of the EOS R bodies for use with the 14-35mm lens. Ultra wide angle lenses have a lot of aberrations which a lens profile corrects either on the computer or in the camera. Lens profiles aren't an option with the Minolta lenses so there's not much point picking up lenses wider than the 35mm I already have.

It will take a couple of weeks for all this to come together but today I carried my two EOS R bodies on the Wilkinson Trail at the Saratoga Battlefield, one with the RF 14-35mm lens and the other with the Minolta MC 58mm lens. I added 23 Images from both setups to the battlefield gallery at https://trulandphotography.com/snhp2023. Here are some images made with the Minolta lens.
