After agreeing to sell my EF 17-40mm f/4L lens for $300 to two different people who didn't follow through, I've been using it and I'm glad I still have it. The lens retails new these days for $649 although my refurb copy was bought from Canon on sale for $500.

One of the big advantages of the lens is its resistance to flare when the sun or a bright light is in, or near to, the frame. The big disadvantage is the lack of image stabilization which is almost necessary for hand held exposure bracketing. An alternative lens, which I've rented, is the EF 16-35mm f/4L IS lens but it is very prone to unwanted flaring. Another alternative is the RF mount 15-35mm f/2.8L IS lens but it's $2,200. 

I did pick up a monopod mount adapter and plate so that I can use a monopod and easily get the camera on and off. I used the monopod yesterday for a sunrise at the canal and this morning for a walk over to Waterford. 

All of these are bracketed sequences using the 17-40mm lens on the monopod except for the kayaker which is a single hand held image.
