The first battle of Saratoga took place on September 19th, 1777. Several of the histories I've read include descriptions of the weather over the three weeks the armies were encamped at the location. Cold, wet and fog are common details. Difficulty moving cannon by horse and gun carriages are not hard to imagine when walking the muddy trails.
