Northampton Beach Day Use Area

Great Sacandaga Lake is high after filling with water from the Sacandaga River to help prevent flooding on the Hudson River. I took my 5Ds and 28mm lens on a walk down to the state park while on a quick day trip this afternoon.

I've been using the 28mm f/2.8 lens on the 6D Mark II, and now the 5Ds, to replicate the characteristics of a Leica Q2 which has a built in 28mm f/1.7 lens. I want to understand the concept of a $5,000 camera limited to a single prime lens. While my 28mm lens is over a stop slower than the Leica, it does have image stabilization. And while the 6D Mark II is only 26MP and the Leice Q2 is 47MP, the 5Ds, at 51MP is as close as you can get with Canon bodies and lenses.

[Note: I didn't realize when I processed these that the 5Ds body did not have the lens profile for this lens installed so all the lens aberration corrections are missing in these samples. I did reprocess and replace the full versions uploaded to https://trulandphotography.com/northampton.]
