Despite a very dry summer, it has been a pretty colorful autumn here in the Hudson and Mohawk River valleys. All it will take is one night with a mid 20's low temperature and most of the remaining leaves will fall. Temperature reports for this area come from the Albany airport which is at a significantly higher elevation and away from any body of water so low temperatures are generally five degrees or so higher than reported for Albany.

This morning's 4.5 mile walk took me over to Van Schaick Island in Cohoes and then up through Waterford and Peebles Island State Park. I made a first entry in the new twitter substitute for some shots from Van Schaick Mansion and am posting some scenes here from the park, which includes the northern part of Van Schaick Island.
