Schodack Island State Park

I decided to make the half hour drive down to Schodack Island State Park this morning to see what the Hudson River looked like. Where I live, there is no tide and the river is frozen over with a snow covering.

Below the federal dam about a mile south of me there is a tide which breaks up the ice. Also, there is no navigation above the dam this time of year and ship traffic to and from the Port of Albany keeps the river from freezing solidly over farther south.

Here are some scenes from the boat launch area of the park together with a couple of shots of the Albany skyline from the east side of the river in Rensselaer.
