A New Lens At An Old Location

When I decided to trade some of my EF lenses for an RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM lens I really didn't think it would be quite as trying as it has been. Ten days ago I decided to rent the lens from LensRentals and if I liked it I would go ahead with trading in the lenses at Unique Photo for the new lens.

First, FedEx wouldn't let me pick up the lens at a FedEx facility because it was shipped FedEx ground and the facility in Menands isn't associated with them. This is a new thing as I've rented stuff numerous times from LensRentals and had it delivered there for pickup with no problems. So, the lens was sent back and I didn't get to try it out. But I did save $85.

So, I went through with the planned transaction with Unique Photo and everything was great until I opened to box and the lens was lacking both an end cap and a lens cap. Obviously, a new lens in a sealed box this was not. I cleaned the front and rear lens elements and it wasn't looking too bad so I decided to see how the lens performed.

The bottom line is I like the lens and think it's a better tool than the combination of the EF 24-70mm and 70-300mm lenses I traded in, which required adapters to use with my RP bodies. Odds are, if Unique Photo will send me an RF end cap and a 72mm lens cap I'll be happy.

Here are two shots of Cohoes Falls showing the extreme ends of the lens followed by some other shots made at the falls.
