Peebles Island with a Telephoto Zoom

This morning was alternately overcast and partly sunny and I wasn't out as early as I usually am. So I decided to drive over to Peebles Island and walk around with my 70-300mm lens.

300mm is not even close to long enough for most wildlife purposes with a full frame camera. Canon is set to announce some RF mount telephoto prime lenses next week but they are f/11 lenses. I'm not sure that works in anything but full sunlight. However, they will be 600mm and 800mm and not very expensive.

Of these images, the three fawns and resting buck are cropped. The dandelion is cropped only for composition.

The white balance looks off on the resting buck but the deer is under a tree canopy with overcast skies. There was no way to warm up the foliage without making the deer look orange. Kind of like Trump's face.
