Historic Schuyler House

Schuyler House in Schuylerville, New York is a part of Saratoga National Historical Park although located about 8 miles north of the battlefield along the Hudson River. The house sits on a small part of the property of Philip Schuyler in what was then called Saratoga, now Schuylerville. Schuyler, based in Albany, owned and operated textile mills and lumbering operations in the area. Laborers, including African slaves, were housed on the property.

The current house was built in the Fall of 1777 following the burning of the existing structure by the retreating British in October, 1777. The site of the British surrender on October 17th is found a bit south of the house.

You can read more about the historic structure at https://www.nps.gov/sara/planyourvisit/schuyler-house.htm.

This past Sunday, the house was closing early due to a summer heatwave with temperatures in the mid 90s so I only had about a half hour inside. Also, the second floor was closed due to renovations.

I carried my EOS 5DS R with the Sigma 28mm f/1.4 lens attached. Here are some of the results. I will head back before the close of the season with a wider lens to capture more of the inside scenes.
