Two Days After the Second Battle

Today is two days after the 245th anniversary of the second battle of Saratoga. It is also the day that the American army left their fortifications to pursue the British army north along the Hudson River in an attempt to keep the British from escaping back to Canada. That attempt succeeded and the British surrendered on October 17th about eight miles north of the battles. At that point the British forces numbered about 6,000 and the Americans about 17,000.

I hiked the entire Wilkinson Trail this morning and used both the 14-35mm and 24-105mm lenses. I added 35 images to the gallery at https://trulandphotography.com/snhp as the end of the year long project nears. I plan to make another visit to Schuylerville close to the date of the surrender to do another walk around Victory Woods, the final refuge of Burgoyne's army.

Here are some of the scenes from this morning.
